This thread is killing me because there is a black angel in some fairly recent literature. He looked like Sam Cooke on steroids. I believe it was article on angels too, and it was within the past few years. Sigh, oh well.

Why are there no black angels?
by snare&racket injw literature is racist as hell.
jesus looks like an american folk singer, the governing body look like a corrupt version of an enron luncheon.. the jw's literally print different magazines for africa with african pictures, black people instead of white, to make it 'more appealing' to them.... just to be clear that means they think the opposite is true too!.
....and then there is the lack of black angels..... .

How bad is the nepotism really with the appointments of elders?
by toto555 ini've seen brothers related or who are friends of elders who get appointed after only 6-12 months as an m.s.
while they were other brothers slaving away for years.
elders also who promote their sons and basically say to other young brothers "to heck with everyone else".

Actually I have seen this, now it's true the brothers used to be elders years ago but still 6-12 months and you're right back
Alright, that makes more sense to me. The portion about "used to be" wasn't in your original post. I can see that happening for former elders.

There is a picture of a black angel in a magazine or book within the past few years. I can't recall exactly where, and the only reason I can remember what I can about it, was because the angel was black. It was one of those things like, "oh that's a new one."

Does faith really mean everything to the practicing Jehovah's Witness
by I_love_Jeff inor is it the things of this world?
for example, model coco rocha caught my attention this morning and of course she is a jehovahs witness.
she says, "my faith is everything.

To be fair though, neither you nor BOTR posted good examples of "practicing" Jehovah's Witnesses where questions surrounding faith can be entertained. You'd be hard pressed to visit the average Kingdom Hall and find people like Coco Rocha, Michael Jackson, and while we're at it, Prince or Serena Williams. If anything, you'll find the polar opposite, or something in between.

Instructions To Elders Re: Pursuing Higher Education
by baldeagle inunderlining is mine.. march 6, 2012 letter.
pursue divine education:some of our brothers are pursuing higher education, feeling that they can acquire a measure of financial security.
as you are aware, the educational system varies from country to country.

We had a situation with a Ministerial Servant that the elder body was pretty much unanimous in recommending as an elder. CO came to town and shot that recommendation down like Clint Eastwood. Reason being was the guy was in school at the time. CO even insinuated that the brother may never get appointed as an elder because he lacked freedom of speech when it came to upholding the WT's stance on higher education. The part that blew me away was during that same meeting, the CO after making the case against the brother's recommendation, used the letter which is the subject of this thread, to make a case against the brother even serving as a Ministerial Servant. It was a surreal night to say the least.

Sighhhhhhhh, the Draw Close to Jehovah book again for the Congregation Bible Study.
by Stand for Pure Worship incheck out this gem from the dec 2013 km which explains why it's good to over this book a second go round.. "congregations previously considered this book during 2004 and 2005. however, for many of the approximately two million publishers who have come into the truth since then, this will be the first time that jehovahs endearing qualities have been discussed in detail.for those who studied the book before, the review will help them to deepen their appreciation forjehovahs attributes.ps.119:14".
i gotta kick out of this because i can only think of maybe two or three new ones in our congregation who weren't present when this book was first studied.
at the same time, going over jehovah's qualities isn't something new.

At the same time, going over Jehovah's qualities isn't something new. That quote from above makes it seem like we don't discuss Jehovah over and over again. Heck, we're called Jehovah's Witnesses for a reason. Not that it wasn't evident before, but I swear new ideas and material are pretty much vacant anymore. If we do the Revelation book in 2015..............

post meeting dirty moods.
by zeb inso you are 'out' and the other in 'in'.
do they come home with the grumps after every meeting?.

I don't really struggle with post meeting grumpiness but I do go through pre-meeting grumpiness and I guess it's for a few reasons. For one, I'm sick of that platform. I feel like a former child actor at times as I've been standing on stages since I was a kid. I'm in my thirties now and its gotten old to me. Talks, parts, prayers, traveling to timbuktu to deliver a talk somewhere, doing the WT Study, or the Congregation Bible Study, highlights, reading, etc., ughugh, I'm just sick of it. Then there's the material we go over which is often repetitive. Same material, same timely reminders, over and over again. Meetings are like Groundhog Day at times and I'm Bill Murray. There have been times where I've been assigned a Service Meeting part and the theme will look familiar to me. Then, when I go to prepare for it using whatever reference, I'll turn to the page in whatever book it's based off of, and there will be notes and underlined portions of certain paragraphs from when I did the same exact part in the past. Not to mention participating in or simply being present for material from the Slave that I disagree with. Ya know, I agree with roughly eighty percent of WT teachings, but the other twenty percent I disagree with disturb me and I lack peace because of my conflict with those teachings. On another note, there's the anxiety that comes from being nervous about going up there. Thirty years of nervousness from talks and parts, not to mention all the other stuff active JWs do, can cause what seems like a stress disorder. I can totally understand why an ex-witness might be diagnosed with post-stress disorder.
There are other reasons why before a meeting I can be grumpy. Like knowing the COBOE will need to see the elders afterwards. That's especially irritating after a long day at work. Another reason is knowing it's our group's turn to clean and secure the hall. When the CO is in town I'm grumpy because of the special week of activities. It's too much some days. That's why for the most part, when a meeting is over and I'm driving home, I feel relief. Even a measure of peace.
